The Cliff

Just suppose, just what if,
I happened to fall over a cliff?
Will it hurt when I fall?
Will I feel a thing at all?
I’m not suggesting you would care
Or give a dime on how I fare.
Would I die or would I live?
Not a care you would give.
“I won’t die,”
I would lie.
But soon I jump and though I try,
I don’t sprout wings, and I don’t fly.
