My Lizard
I put my lizard on the scale,
My sister grew extremely pale.
She screamed a scream,
Too loud, it seemed.
My mother ran down the stairs,
For my lizard, she did not care.
But my lizard weighed 100 pounds,
So she could not really make a sound.
This was the moment of her life,
She chased my lizard, took out a knife,
She threw at my lizard, but she missed,
My lizard turned, and he hissed.
She screamed in fright, and ran away,
I didn't see her for twenty days.
For my lizard, it was bad,
For who was there? Yes, my dad.
Since my father was a man,
My lizard halted, and he ran.
My crazy brother shut the door,
He couldn't escape anymore.
He was caught, he was stuck,
But he wasn't fully out of luck.
"He ran outside," my neighbors say,
"But then he went and got away."
Then I saw him, in a ditch.
On a log, I don't know which.
Then he bit me on the head.
My mother screamed, though I was dead.
They called a doctor, and a nurse
To see which injury was worse.
Though I had put up a real good fight
My head had the worst bite.
To make sure that we had won,
I followed the lizard and then went on.
I didn't think that we were slowing,
Cause we didn't stop, just kept on going.
Many roads did we cross,
'Til I finally realized we were lost.
How I shaked and how I shivered.
I was surprised to see, so did my lizard.
I helped my lizard, and he helped me.
It was surprising how that could be.
But together we made a pair.
'Twas the only way out of there.
The rain, came, and gave us a bath,
And the rain left a little path.
We went on, and the path showed
That we were crossing all those roads.
We were finally getting close to home.
We would not have the streets to roam.
We rang the bell, but none were there.
I thought and thought, and wondered where.
I thought to myself, "Where are they all?"
Until they all came back from a funeral.
I wondered whose it could have been,
But I will not say the lousy end.
