My Fish

Oh how I wish
To have a fish,
He would be my favorite dish.
-er, that came out wrong…
Don’t be upset-
I meant my pet.
My fish would swim through the water,
Like a natural, like an otter.
I would name him “Pretty Tom,”
That is what I told my mom.
I saw a minnow at the store,
But I wanted to get more.
Though he was yellowish,
The pet shop said “a goldfish.”
So I left and took him home,
And now he lives in white sea-foam.
Just swimming’ South, then swimming’ north;
Only swimming back and forth.
But it got  to be quite a bore,
Watching’ him for an hour or more.
Then, even though I didn’t wanna,
I went to the store and got a piranha.
I don’t have Tom any more-
Now I have a carnivore.
All that my fish would eat
Was any kind of any meat.
So I did something evilly dark-
I went to the store and got a shark.
Now this certain shark had a brother,
So I had to get him and two others.
These sharks were of the wrong brood-
‘Cause soon they all became their food.
Here’s the moral of the story:
Don’t get fish, they’re pretty gory.
